The Play

The play is set in small town Georgia during the Great Depression of the 1930’s.  Scout, a tomboy, and her older brother Jem, are the children of widowed lawyer Atticus Finch, and on the verge of growing up.

The racially biased town is rocked when Tom Robinson, a African American worker, is accused of molesting a young white woman.  Atticus becomes the defense attorney for Tom, to the disapproval of the community – culminating in a stirring trial.

Scout and Jem are forever changed by revelations about their father and the ways of the adult world.
