Gypsy – by Arthur Laurents, Directed by Zoë Swenson-Graham – November 11 – December 18, 2022
Speculated by many to be the greatest of all American musicals, Gypsy is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, and focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with “the ultimate show business mother.” The musical follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters, Baby June and Louise, to perform onstage, and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. Featured songs have become standards of the musical theatre canon, including “Some People,” “Let Me Entertain You,” “Rose’s Turn,” and the show-stopping “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”.
